More Than Music Education

Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra is a unique place where students can excel musically, connect socially, and grow personally.

Through music education, meaningful relationships, and a supportive community, we help musicians develop skills that extend beyond the stage.

Our Approach

At MVYSO, we believe music education should challenge students, inspire a lifelong love of music, and create opportunities for personal growth.

Our programs are designed to help students develop as musicians while building confidence, friendships, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging.

Excel Musically

Students receive opportunities to develop their musical abilities through ensemble rehearsals, instrument-specific coaching, performances, and mentorship from experienced music educators.

MVYSO's coaching staff provides small-group sectional instruction that allows students to ask questions, refine technique, and strengthen musicianship in a supportive learning environment.

Connect Socially

Music is most meaningful when it is shared with others.

MVYSO intentionally creates opportunities for students to build friendships, connect with peers, and become part of a welcoming community. Through rehearsals, performances, social activities, and student leadership opportunities, students develop relationships that often last long beyond their years in the program.

Grow Personally

The skills students develop through music extend far beyond the rehearsal room.

MVYSO encourages students to build confidence, develop leadership abilities, practice responsibility, and contribute to their communities through service and mentorship opportunities.

A Balanced Approach

We understand that students often participate in sports, advanced academics, school music programs, theater, and other activities. MVYSO works to provide meaningful musical opportunities while respecting the realities of busy student schedules.

Inclusive and Accessible

We believe music education should be available to as many students as possible. MVYSO welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and offers tuition assistance to help make participation accessible.

Hear from our students…

"I have been with MVYSO for my entire musical career. I started cello when I was 9 years old, when there was a Beginning Strings Program. It has been a big part of my life and has impacted me more than I can describe. The wonderful coaches, directors and volunteers all add to the true MVYSO environment. The friends and memories I have made will forever be cherished."
