Please prepare the following for your audition:
1) Prepare a 2-minute excerpt*
from a classical solo piece
that reflects your abilities.
2) You will also be asked to sight read at your audition.
3) Bring $10 audition fee or pay online
Audtions are for Debut*, Philharmonia, and Symphony Orchestras. Audtions are not required for beginning strings.
*Students who have only one year of playing experience and plan to audition for our Debut orchestra , may prepare a 1 minute excerpt from a band or orchestra or private lesson piece. If students at this level are uncomfortable with or missed auditions, please register for Debut Orchestra by clicking the button to the right.

AUDITION FAQ'S
What if my audition piece is less than 2 minutes?
We encourage you to find a piece that reflects your playing ability that is close to two minutes. If it's short a few seconds, that's OK, If you have difficulty finding something, contact a private teacher.
When will I know if I made it into the MVYSO?
You will know right away. Everyone will make it into one of our orchestra programs as we have an orchestra program for every playing level.
Why do we need to sight read at our audition?
This gives us a better idea of what your are capable of and how quickly you'll be able to put music together for performance. It will help us to place you in an orchestra that best suits your ablities

Why the $10 Audition Fee?
Your audition appointment is important to both us and you! Our auditioners sometimes drive from 45 minutes or more to hear you audition for just 10 minutes. The fee , we hope, stresses the importance. The fee is $10 per appoinment.
$10 Audition Fee will be invoiced in the event of a cancellation. There is an additional $10 fee for rescheduling your audition appointment.
Debut Orchestra Level students who are uncomfortable with or who missed auditions may register for Debut Orchestra here.
